Residue managers create a better stand of corn
Jerry Groth is always looking for ways to get a better stand of corn on his mostly no-till farm, which is why he decided to test out the Yetter 2967-035 Residue Manager for No-Till Coulters with SharkTooth® wheels in a side-by-side comparison.
On a 1,000-foot plot with four rows, he planted two rows using the residue managers and two using no-till coulters without the residue managers. His final stand was roughly 34,000 plants in rows with residue managers and 29,000 and 31,000 plants in the rows without. This equaled a 12-bushel-per-acre difference in yield.
"I also found more consistency in growth and more even ear size in the rows using residue managers," said Jerry. "I’ve purchased residue managers to use on all my planters."
