Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals are met efficiently and safely. This role involves supervising production staff, coordinating the flow of materials, ensuring adherence to production schedules, and maintaining a safe, productive work environment. The position is also responsible for troubleshooting operational issues, implementing process improvements, and collaborating with other departments to optimize production performance and minimize downtime.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes production requirements by scheduling and assigning personnel; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems.
  • Ensures high quality, efficient, and effective production and/or operations; establishes priorities and sequences for machining.
  • Performs typical responsibilities of supervision including planning, evaluating, organizing, training, coaching, and discipline as indicated.
  • Coordinates and communicates with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the department.
  • Monitors availability of supplies, parts and materials and communicates shortages to the appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained and operating properly.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements new procedures and methods to improve department operations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by complying with procedures, rules/regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Adheres to and supports 5S 1.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to read manufacturing blueprints, compute and analyze basic math, algebraic and dimensional equations.
  • Ability to motivate, train, develop, and manage personnel in a fast-paced, high-repetition environment.
  • Knowledge of machining, manufacturing processes and programming machining equipment.
  • For safety, performance and productivity, must be able to read, write and speak English; must have basic math and computer skills which includes Outlook, Excel, and the ability to use and learn other software as required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in behaviors combined with good interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally both written and verbally across all departments and within the organization.
  • Ability to motivate, train, develop and supervise personnel.
  • Ability to effectively operate department related tools and equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively, meeting deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to attain and retain forklift licensure.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Physically active position requiring medium to heavy work with consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires pushing and pulling up to 75 lbs.; requires exerting force.
  • Requires being able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • To perform the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, reach to, below or above shoulder level/overhead, lift, carry, push, pull and use hands and/or fingers to handle, grasp, manipulate, grip and use tools.
  • Essential duties and responsibilities are typically performed while standing or while intermittently sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching or stooping; requires reaching, pushing, pulling, and gripping/grasping. Repetitive motions may be applicable to certain tasks.
  • Visual acuity and hand/eye coordination; requires the ability to see, talk, and hear. Must have vision ability to perform work and see a computer screen or written material.
  • Regular exposure to heat, noise and vibration from pneumatic tools, moving machines, fumes, and occasionally airborne dust and particles.
  • Regular exposure to seasonal temperature changes in the work environment.
  • Requires steel/composite safety footwear and safety eye protection that meets ANSI standards
  • Hearing protection required in specified areas.
